Driving safety and driving comfort are directly related to the condition of the tires. Approx. 40% of all sudden tire breakdowns, for example, are due to underinflated tires. The highly accurate systems developed by AUMOVIO permanently monitor the tire's inflation pressure and reliably alert the driver in the event of a loss of pressure. In this way our Tire Information Systems help eliminate a frequent cause of accidents to enhance driving safety. In addition to this, they lower carbon dioxide emissions and reduce fuel consumption. If a car's tires are underinflated by 0.3 bar, the vehicle will likely consume 1.5 percent more fuel and thus release a correspondingly higher amount of carbon dioxide emissions. Today a lot of vehicles already include Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems as standard equipment. These systems will make their data available to other vehicle systems – the braking system, for example. With our product portfolio we are, therefore, very well positioned to tackle future requirements and make motoring even safer, eco-friendlier, more comfortable and tire management easier for the driver.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) measures the pressure inside a tire directly, transmits the reading and displays it. The driver is alerted of a critical situation by means of a corresponding signal.
The TPMS takes the reading directly on the wheel. Battery-fed sensors mounted on the rim and integrated into the valve measure the tire's inflation pressure and send a high-frequency signal with coded information to a receiver. Special software in the control device then processes the data received and shows it on a display on the instrument panel.
TPMS software evaluates the tire data collected in different directions and thus supplies a host of relevant information about the tire. These include determination of the leakage rate and automatic information on tire inflation pressure.
Other software functions are standardized warnings when limit values are approached, an ongoing comparison of tire temperature, automated identification of tires, detection of tire pressure, driver support and spare tire checks.
TPMS also recognizes whether the vehicle is moving or standing still and adjusts the frequency of the controls to the situation in which the vehicle finds itself.
When a vehicle is moving, tire pressure and tire temperature are measured every few seconds and the readings transmitted via a high-frequency signal.
If the vehicle is standing still, on the other hand, the values are measured at longer intervals and the readings transmitted above all when a pressure change is determined.

Tread Depth Monitoring (TDM)
Sensors provide the vehicle driver already today with important information on the status of the vehicle. These data will be used for Tread Depth Monitoring (TDM) to bring the usage to a next level.
Best in class technology out of embedded solutions and cloud based machine learning. Embedded software runs realtime accurate pre-processing with high frequency in the vehicle. High computing and machine learning capacity in the cloud links multiple vehicle data together.
By creating a data flow from the car to the cloud, algorithms interpreting the data work with a much bigger database – not just data from one car. This is part of a learning-system approach constantly improving the analysis. By using the computing power and data storage capacity of the cloud, the incremental cost of installing more computing power and memory in every vehicle can be avoided.

- +/-1mm accuracy
- Independent from TPMS supplier
- Independent from tire supplier
