AUMOVIO is proud to announce a major production milestone: in Autumn 2025, 500 million electronic brake systems (EBS) will be delivered worldwide. This achievement reflects decades of pioneering work in electronic brake systems.
After the introduction of the first ABS in our portfolio in 1969, AUMOVIO (formerly Continental) achieved its first groundbreaking innovation in 1984 with the MK II entering series production. It was not only the first ABS on the market in which the braking function, power assist, hydraulic control, and anti-lock system were combined into a single compact unit. Moreover, the MK II featured the world’s first microprocessor-controlled ABS for passenger cars. This was truly revolutionary and beneficial, as it enabled faster and more precise brake modulation, improved vehicle stability and safety, reduced system size and complexity, and laid the foundation for future electronic driving aids.
The next world first in our portfolio followed with the MK C1 in 2016. Previously, all brake components were distributed throughout the vehicle, but the MK C1 offered the first One Box solution integrating everything in one compact package – a design that remains state-of-the-art for brake systems to this day. Our most recent models in the AUMOVIO portfolio include the lighter and more compact MK C2 One Box brake system whose multi-logic architecture provides a redundant fallback level which makes it suitable for automated driving applications and the MK 120. It represents the latest generation of conventional ESC systems.
Having been awarded as one of the first suppliers with a semi-dry brake solution for a large international OE, AUMOVIO is ready to move into the future. AUMOVIO has a brake roadmap that offers solutions for vitually all customer needs: from semi-dry to full dry, but also distributed systems that provide the redundancy required to enable braking functions even for autonomous driving.
