AUMOVIO is selling its Rheinböllen site to a subsidiary of Falkensteg
Frankfurt, Germany, April 29, 2026. AUMOVIO and the transformation consulting firm Falkensteg have reached an agreement regarding the sale of the AUMOVIO site in Rheinböllen, Germany. As part of the agreement, RHB-Industries – a company established specifically by Falkensteg – will take over all business operations and employees at the site. The transaction is subject to usual closing conditions and approvals and is expected to be completed by mid-year. Both companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
At its Rheinböllen site, AUMOVIO manufactures brake calipers and electric parking brakes. Autonomous mobile robots are also developed and produced on-site. The Rheinböllen site employs around 320 people. AUMOVIO and RHB-Industries maintain close contact with the social partners, who were involved early on and have constructively supported the process from the very beginning. As a result, a collective bargaining agreement regarding the transition of employment conditions has already been concluded.
Behind RHB-Industries is a team from the transformation consulting firm Falkensteg, which specializes in the automotive industry. RHB-Industries will acquire the site, including all assets, and take over the entire workforce. Alexander Dietel, Partner at Falkensteg, says: “The Rheinböllen site is a key component for us. The team’s high level of expertise and the robust manufacturing base give us the ideal starting point to position the plant for the future.”
For AUMOVIO, the planned sale represents another step towards consolidating the number of production sites to a level that sustainably supports efficient market penetration.
We are convinced that RHB-Industries, with Falkensteg’s extensive management and transformation expertise in the automotive sector, is the right owner to lead the site into the future. Our shared goal is to ensure continuity for employees, customers, and partners and to provide the Rheinböllen site with a clear path forward. With this sale, we are focusing on business that is competitive in the long term. We are strengthening our core business and making our business operations more efficient.
Philipp von Hirschheydt, CEO of AUMOVIO
RHB-Industries plans to introduce contract manufacturing in the area of brakes at the Rheinböllen site to support ongoing series production projects. This model will initially ensure a reliable production volume and provide stability and orientation for the workforce. At the same time, RHB-Industries is committed to developing sustainable business ideas that will enable production and employment at the site in the long term. “To ensure the site has reliable future prospects, we must open it up to additional markets within a reasonable timeframe. The experience with safety-critical components and a strong process discipline makes the production site particularly well-suited for applications in the areas of defense, brake-related applications, contract manufacturing robotics, and the process industry (large heat pumps). On this basis, we intend to further develop the existing brake system expertise in a targeted manner,” says Dietel.
In the field of autonomous, mobile robots, RHB-Industries intends to identify a strategic investor who will take over technology, know-how and parts of the workforce.
