About ITS
Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is the integration of transport modes and infrastructure with information and communication technology (ICT), resulting in improved safety and efficiency. Recent technological advances in autonomous driving, AI, and edge computing have further contributed to reducing traffic-related accidents and congestion.
The ITS World Congress is the world’s largest event in the field of ITS, combining exhibitions and academic programs. It serves as a global hub where industry, academia, and government stakeholders share research, present policies, and showcase products, fostering knowledge exchange and technological collaboration.
The Congress is held annually under a trilateral agreement among the three regional ITS organizations: ITS Asia-Pacific, ERTICO, and ITS America. Since its inception in Paris in 1994, it has rotated annually among Europe, the Americas, and the Asia-Pacific. In Korea, the congress was previously hosted in Seoul (1998) and Busan (2010), and it will return in 2026 in Gangneung.
