AUMOVIO establishes global standard for digital production management with the virtual line information board (VLIB)
Frankfurt am Main, September 16, 2026. AUMOVIO is advancing the standardization of its manufacturing processes and digitizing a key element of production operations. The virtual line information board (VLIB) is already in use on more than 1,300 AUMOVIO production lines, helping employees identify production deviations quickly, analyze them systematically and implement targeted corrective action. With this proprietary digital analysis tool, the technology company is improving the efficiency, performance and availability of production equipment worldwide.
One principle applies to every industrial manufacturing operation: production must keep running. Yet deviations are part of day-to-day operations at manufacturing plants. Particularly when producing complex components in accordance with the automotive industry’s exacting standards, it is essential to identify deviations early, record them efficiently and reduce them sustainably. Deviation management is therefore a core element of modern production processes. Until now, AUMOVIO, like many other companies, primarily documented and addressed deviations using physical information boards or local software solutions.

With the VLIB, AUMOVIO has developed a proprietary software solution that standardizes production metrics across locations and makes them centrally available. The VLIB: efficient deployment, easy to use
The VLIB simplifies day-to-day work for employees at AUMOVIO plants. The digital processing of production data saves time, increases transparency and improves efficiency. The VLIB was designed with ease of use in mind, enabling all employees to adopt the new tool quickly and effectively. For AUMOVIO, developing the VLIB is an essential part of modern, reliable production. The solution is based on lean management principles, which in turn draw on the globally recognized Toyota Production System (TPS), developed by the Japanese automaker around 80 years ago. TPS remains the benchmark for efficient production, minimizing deviations and production errors, eliminating waste and ensuring the highest quality standards.
Reduced workload delivers efficiency gains
The VLIB supports precisely these goals to a high degree: consistent production processes in which every recorded deviation is analyzed digitally and in detail. Whether the issue involves quality deviations, unplanned downtime or performance losses, employees can record problems systematically, analyze them quickly, prioritize them effectively and track the resulting corrective actions. Compared with a manual board, this reduces the workload for production line managers by an average of 20% to 30%. This impact is becoming increasingly significant as successful rollouts have expanded the use of the VLIB from around 200 production lines in 2025 to more than 1,300 today.
AI to enhance virtual production management in the future
As the platform continues to improve and expand, the number of users is expected to grow further. At the same time, AUMOVIO is exploring how digital solutions can be used even more extensively to optimize production processes. Potential applications include new analysis and automation capabilities as well as the use of artificial intelligence to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement across multiple sites. The VLIB is already making an important contribution to AUMOVIO’s digital manufacturing strategy and supporting the company on its path toward more efficient, resilient and future-ready production.
