Camera business gains momentum: AUMOVIO wins major series-production awards in Asia for its satellite cameras
Frankfurt, Germany, November 03, 2026 — Technology company AUMOVIO has received major series-production awards worth more than €500 million for its latest generation of satellite cameras from Asian vehicle manufacturers in the third quarter of the year. This includes an award from a leading Chinese vehicle manufacturer and an award from one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in Asia, both with a start of production already planned for the fourth quarter of 2027. The awarded business in China marks the local debut of AUMOVIO's third generation satellite camera solution for demanding environments and more complex scenarios such as automated driving.
The customer awards in Asia for our latest satellite camera generation are a confirmation of our overall strategy. As a technology partner, we support Asian automakers in their globalization strategies by combining localized development with our global production footprint, helping them succeed wherever needed. The awards demonstrate the relevance of solutions that combine global technology expertise with local execution.

Seeing clearly in demanding conditions
At the Chinese vehicle manufacturer, the awarded modular camera platform supports assisted and automated driving applications in extreme conditions, using software image enhancement to improve image quality in low-light conditions, to enable driver-assistance functions to operate at night.
AUMOVIO’s satellite cameras combine long-term optical stability and compatibility with major automated driving stacks. Their robust optical design ensures consistently high image quality throughout the vehicle’s lifetime, even under changing temperatures and aging effects. Flexible interfaces enable seamless integration into different automated driving architectures.
As automated driving functions expand into more markets, day-to-day operating challenges are becoming increasingly important. The satellite cameras work reliably in demanding weather and light conditions, including temperatures as low as −40 degrees Celsius, snow, ice and low light. The cameras offer image sensors from 1.3 up to 8 megapixel and multiple fields of views, support high dynamic range (HDR), and can be configured with defrosting/defogging and image-enhancement to meet the automated driving needs of different vehicle models. Backed by 20 years of automotive grade camera design, production experience and proven processes, the solution's full-lifecycle reliability is assured.
“Reducing overall vehicle and advanced driver assistance systems costs is key to ensuring that assisted and automated driving systems scale globally, at the same time, cameras must remain reliable in any situation,” said Alain Kemadjou, Head of Segment Camera at AUMOVIO. “These series-production awards from leading Asian automakers are a recognition of our strategy and relentless commitment to safety.”
Bringing reliable camera technology to more roads and regions
But not only is camera reliability in extreme environments becoming a decisive factor for series production. At the same time, with increasingly stringent global regulations and rising customer expectations, local development and production are becoming even more important for automakers globally. Leveraging its local development and production capabilities in major markets worldwide, AUMOVIO can tailor its camera solutions to individual customer requirements and provides vehicle manufacturers with end-to-end support from development to series production — helping assisted and automated driving remain reliably available across an ever-wider range of real-world scenarios.
