AUMOVIO improves operating margin in third quarter despite significant sales decline and confirms full-year guidance
Frankfurt am Main, November 5, 2026. AUMOVIO achieved a positive operating result in the third quarter of 2026 despite a persistently challenging market environment. Adjusted consolidated sales amounted to €4.0 billion in the third quarter (Q3 2025: €4.5 billion), while the adjusted EBIT margin improved slightly to 3.5 percent (Q3 2025: 3.4 percent). Adjusted EBIT reached €137 million (Q3 2025: €153 million). At the same time, order intake increased significantly to €6.4 billion (Q3 2025: €3.2 billion).
Adjusted consolidated sales declined by 9.8 percent in the first nine months of 2026 to €12.6 billion (9M 2025: €14.0 billion). Adjusted EBIT amounted to €294 million (9M 2025: €413 million), corresponding to an adjusted EBIT margin of 2.3 percent (9M 2025: 3.0 percent). Earnings were impacted by the settlement with BMW announced in July 2026 and by the challenging market environment. Order intake remained largely stable at €14.6 billion (9M 2025: €14.7 billion).
Portfolio: implementation of strategic priorities
AUMOVIO has continued to implement its portfolio strategy in recent months. As part of the portfolio review, the Executive Board confirmed that the User Experience (UX) business area will remain an integral part of AUMOVIO. This decision reflects the progress UX has made toward achieving a sustainable cash flow contribution, its strong technology position, and synergies from collaboration with other business areas.
User Experience, with its innovative display solutions, is an important part of AUMOVIO’s technology portfolio. The structural measures implemented and higher operational efficiency are improving the business area’s profitability. UX is also very well positioned in its product categories for the mobility of
the future.
Philipp von Hirschheydt, CEO of AUMOVIO
Since the beginning of the year, AUMOVIO has completed or entered into agreements for 11 sales transactions. These include the sale of its stake in SupplyOn and an agreement to sell its washer and cleaning business. Additionally, the company has finalized the sale of its locations in Mechelen, Belgium, and in Rheinböllen, Germany, marking a further milestone in the optimization of its global production network.
At the same time, AUMOVIO has expanded its business with Chinese OEMs and opened new growth opportunities by extending its longstanding partnership with Chery to Europe. With its broad portfolio and European production network, AUMOVIO will support Chery’s future vehicle production in Europe.
Performance of the business areas
In the first nine months of 2026, the business areas performed as follows:
In the Autonomous and Commercial Mobility business area, adjusted sales amounted to €2.1 billion (9M 2025: €2.4 billion, -12.0 percent). This performance was primarily impacted by lower volumes and negative currency effects. The resulting decline in earnings was more than offset by efficiency gains in research and development. Adjusted EBIT improved to €13 million (9M 2025: -€11 million).
The Architecture and Network Solutions business area achieved adjusted sales of €3.5 billion (9M 2025: €3.8 billion, -7.8 percent). This decline in sales was driven by negative currency effects and lower volumes. Adjusted EBIT rose by 21.2 percent to €211 million (9M 2025: €174 million), mainly because of ongoing restructuring measures and stringent cost management.
The Safety and Motion business area achieved adjusted sales of €5.0 billion (9M 2025: €5.5 billion, -9.3 percent), mainly due to negative currency effects and lower volumes. Adjusted EBIT was affected by the agreement reached with BMW, as well as by volume and currency effects and declined to €81 million (9M 2025: €253 million).
The User Experience business area recorded adjusted sales of €2.1 billion (9M 2025: €2.3 billion, -7.9 percent). This decline was attributable in large part to negative currency effects and annual price adjustments. Adjusted EBIT improved to €14 million (9M 2025: €5 million), mainly due to consistent implementation of structural optimization measures, sustainable improvements in material prices, and efficiency gains in production.
Solid balance sheet structure
As of September 30, 2026, AUMOVIO retains a solid balance sheet structure. The equity ratio rose to 54.7 percent (December 31, 2025: 53.9 percent), while net liquidity amounted to €1.1 billion (December 31, 2025: €1.4 billion). Adjusted free cash flow in the first nine months of 2026 came in at -€297 million (9M 2025: -€150 million) and normalized free cash flow was €111 million (9M 2025: €202 million). Normalized free cash flow for the first nine months of the year was adjusted for cash outflows totaling €408 million , including €295 million related to restructuring measures and severance payments, and €61 million related to the spin-off from Continental AG.
Group guidance for full-year 2026 confirmed
According to preliminary figures published by Mobility Global for October, global production of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles declined by 1.6 percent year on year in the third quarter of 2026 to around 22.7 million units. While production in Europe remained stable, volumes declined in North America and China. For the full year 2026, Mobility Global currently forecasts global production of around 91.6 million units, down by 1.7 percent compared with the previous year.
Against this backdrop, AUMOVIO continues to expect the challenging market environment in fiscal 2026, affected by lower production volumes, geopolitical uncertainty, negative currency effects, higher raw materials prices and increased costs for memory components.
Based on the results of the first nine months of 2026, AUMOVIO confirms its group guidance for 2026. Accordingly, AUMOVIO continues to expect adjusted consolidated sales of €17.0 billion to €17.5 billion, an adjusted EBIT margin of 3.0 to 4.0 percent, and normalized free cash flow of €500 million to €700 million.
“We confirm our guidance for 2026 and remain highly disciplined and focused on efficiency as we work to achieve our targets. At the same time, we will continue to develop our portfolio and expand our business in growth areas that are closely linked to our core competencies,” said Philipp von Hirschheydt.
Von Hirschheydt has also assumed interim responsibility for the finance function on the Executive Board. Claus Bauer is serving as Head of Finance on an interim basis.
