Electric caliper – dry braking solution
The electric caliper (DBS C – dry braking solution caliper) is based on state-of-the-art floating caliper technology and delivers a high-performance dry braking solution for passenger cars, with potential applications in light commercial vehicles.
Its latest evolution features a fully dry braking system, combining four electromechanical brakes (EMB) with a smart actuator interface in a completely hydraulic-free design – no lines, no brake fluid.
Engineered for highly automated vehicles from SAE Level 3 onwards and for centralized vehicle architectures, the system supports brake function software running on high-performance computers (HPCs) or zone controllers. Optimized recuperation and minimized drag torque contribute to a highly efficient braking concept.
The advantages are clear: production and service processes are significantly simplified, while independent control of each wheel brake enhances vehicle dynamics and stability. By eliminating brake fluid entirely, the system establishes a new benchmark for efficiency and braking performance.
