AUMOVIO contributes to JLR’s low-carbon concept vehicle

Taking a significant step towards sustainable mobility, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) recently presented its Cornerstone concept vehicle, showcasing the future of circular, low-carbon automotive design. Developed with 49 real-world components co-created with more than 40 supply chain partners, the project is a testimony on how innovation and collaboration can support transition to a more sustainable automotive industry.

The Cornerstone vehicle integrates recycled, bio-based and low-impact materials while focusing on repairability, reuse and recyclability throughout the product lifecycle. Compared to conventional materials and manufacturing processes, the project delivers nearly one ton of CO₂ savings and utilizes approximately 140 kilograms of recycled material.

We are proud to contribute to this pioneering initiative through our concept tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), designed to maximize resource efficiency and extend product lifecycle when compared to the conventional TPMS solutions. The innovative TPMS incorporates several circular-design features, including:

  • Design for disassembly, enabling components to be easily separated, repaired, and reused as against other similar TPMS solutions that are in commercial use.
  • Dissolvable printed circuit board (PCB) technology facilitates the recovery and reuse of electronic components.
  • Replaceable battery that extends product life and reduces electronic waste.

This project is a clear indication that circularity begins at the design stage. By embedding this outlook into product development from the outset, AUMOVIO’s concept TPMS helps optimize material recovery and reduce waste.

Through collaborations such as the Cornerstone project, AUMOVIO continues to support innovative technologies that contribute to a more circular automotive ecosystem.
